A Spectacular Marginal Block of Forty-Nine
1841 1d Pale Red-Brown, Plate 160 (DF–JL) – A truly impressive multiple of extraordinary size and rarity. This block retains the inscription and part of the marginal ornament, offering both positional significance and visual appeal. Margins are just touched at the lower right and upper right, otherwise well-balanced, and the majority of stamps remain never hinged, with hinge remnants only around the periphery. A small tone spot is noted on DK, otherwise fresh and vibrant.
The multiple is most attractive, fine and fresh, with only minor imperfections typical for a block of this magnitude: a light horizontal crease through row I, a corner crease at top right, and some usual gum wrinkling. These do not detract from its overall exceptional quality.
A truly important penny red rarity, remarkable both for its size and condition, and a highlight for any serious collector.
