Description

Egypt – British Forces in Egypt: 1910-1945 Five-frame exhibit entitled “British Forces in Egypt – The Impact of Postal Operations of WWI and WWII” showing eighty pages neatly and knowledgeably presented, the exhibit is arranged chronologically and shows four sections: the early years 1910-14, WWI 1914-19, Inter-wars Period 1919-1939 and WWII. Items of note incl. an early usage of the “British Barracks / Abbassia” cds, 1935 Silver Jubilee ovpt on 1pi letter stamp on cover, M.P.O. cds incl. Port Said, Abu Sueir and Moascar, various crowned numeral franks incl. 11 and 12 which are scarcer and 17 in black, FPO double circle cancels, airgraphs, POW camps, various censorship markings, etc., a wonderful collection.
