1840 (February 21st) Folded letter sheet from Athlone to Dublin, showing a superb example of the distinctive Athlone uniform “1D” handstamp in red, with framed “PAID AT / ATHLONE” alongside and endorsed “paid” in blue ink, attractive and a scarce strike in this quality.
