Description
1796 (May 2nd) Folded Seaman’s entire from Belfast to a serving mariner on board HMS “Regular” at Portsmouth sent at the military concession rate with manuscript “1” on the face, showing clear crisp red “BELFAST” alongside, with London “MA/8/96” cds and horseshoe PLYMOUTH in black, cover somewhat tatty with tear, extremely rare; ex Jay.

Note: Sent in the first year of this Seaman military rate as per the Act for Ireland which was passed in March 1796.
