Lot 10644 – Veracruz 50c engraved on cover via Extraordinario express service

Veracruz 50c green engraved (consignment 128-1866), mixed margins, on “Extraordinario” express service cover to Puebla dated March 15, 1867, tied by Veracruz cds cds (Schatzkès #1757A). The express service was double the rate and there are very few surviving covers, let alone with a 50c engraved stamp.

Note: It was sent at the very tail end of the Empire era as Maximilian was executed on June 19, 1867.
