Lot 10551 – Mexico 25c lithographed Mexico Name Only cover from Queretaro to Irapuato
Lot 10551 – Mexico 25c lithographed Mexico Name Only cover from Queretaro to Irapuato
Mexico 25c orange lithographed “Mexico Name Only”, just touched at top, huge margin at foot, on cover from Querétaro to Irapuato tied by oval “FRANQUEADO / EN QUERETARO” (Schatzkès #1264), horizontal filing fold affecting stamp at top. A very scarce cover as although 7’227 of the 25c were issued, very few were actually used and therefore very few covers survived. This is among one of the most outstanding of the few that have survived because it was used out of district. NF $100 as a single used.
Note: These stamps without the consignment number, but with the gothic Mexico overprint, were issued in exchange for Eagle stamps at the beginning of the issue.
Additional scans and images are being uploaded on a continuous basis, and the complete set of illustrations for all lots will be available by 1 June 2026.
