Lot 10550 – Mexico 25c engraved Mexico Name Only cover to Zacatecas

Mexico 25c orange litho “Mexico Name Only”, frame line just cut into at lower right, on cover to Zacatecas dated October 20, 1866, tied by clear “FRANCO / MEXICO” cds. Very fine and although 4’000 of the 25c were issued, very few were actually used and therefore very few covers have survived. Note: These stamps without the consignment number, but with the gothic Mexico overprint, were issued in exchange for Eagle stamps at the beginning of the issue.
