Lot 10480 – Essays “Delpierre” POSTES

Engraved Maximilian unadopted essays by J. Delpierre from Belgium, with label in French (POSTES) and blank denomination, four singles on thick paper or thin card with large margins and in different colors. It is likely that these designs in French were also tendered to Maximilian’s brother-in-law Leopold II of Belgium: J. Delpierre was to be awarded the 1866 issue. Additionally a seldom seen lithographed and perforated essay with “IMPERIO MEX./POSTAS” legend, on ungummed wove paper (thin spot).
