Lot 10448 – 1789 circa. Undated envelope from Rome (faint handstamp in black on f
1789 ca. Undated envelope from Rome (faint hs in black on front) to Arequipa, conveyed via Barcelona where the “Italia” straight-line was struck, transmitted overland to Corunna and hs “España” (Kouri type I) before being carried by maritime transatlantic means. The route followed was indicated with the “Por la Coruña- Buenos Ayres-Perú” endorsement, involving Potosi for the inland carriage in South America. The earliest cover documented, originating from any Italian State, bearing the “España” postmark.
