Folded letter from Porto (Portugal) via Havana to Guatemala, marked “12” Reales due in manuscript, entering Spain at Tuy with application of red “Portvgal” straight-line, additionally hs with two strikes of “España” postmark of Corunna (Kouri type I) also in red. Some typical soiling not detracting. The earliest recorded letter from Portugal directed to Central America; it must be additionally considered that Portuguese correspondence to any Spanish American destination is of great scarcity.
