Lot 10370 – UNIQUE MIXED FRANKING “COLÓN” IMPERFORATE AND PERFORATED
UNIQUE MIXED FRANKING “COLÓN” IMPERFORATE AND PERFORATED
1861, Last London Printing, 10c blue, touched at lower right, otherwise good margins, in combination with 1867 5c orangish red, used on April 1868 cover from Santiago endorsed “Por el Vapor”, addressed to Buenaventura Martínez, Captain of Frigate and Maritime Governor of Coquimbo, each tied by segmented cork cancel, with red dispatch cds in centre. The 5c has a closed tear at top, of little significance for this impressive item for exhibition, featuring a, as far as we can say, unique combination franking within the desirable small group of mixed usages known bearing the imperforate and perforated “Colón” issues. Cert. Moorhouse (2007).
Additional scans and images are being uploaded on a continuous basis, and the complete set of illustrations for all lots will be available by 1 June 2026.
