Lot 10221 – 1844, 30r black, type IIa, worn impression, two on cover with “C./DO/SERRO.” double circle in red
1844, 30r black, type II, worn impression, two examples with mostly good margins, one just touched in two small places, tied to back of cover to Rio de Janeiro by “C./DO/SERRO.” double circle (Ayres 1562) in red, with manuscript “26/1849/11” date of dispatch on front as usually applied in Serro. Bottom back flap missing and upper flap detached and backed, and to be noted that the stamps are not torn despite being placed on back. The finest of two “Inclinados” covers known bearing this cancellation, and the sole recorded in red; letters bearing the “Inclinados” are scarcer than the covers with “Bull’s Eyes”.
