1832 (Aug 16). Entire letter from Aracati (CE) to Lisbon, endorsed “Pr. Pernambuco”, charged on dispatch “100” réis in ms, with “Aracati” straight line in brown, “160” reis and “C. Est. de N.” oval, both in red and applied on arrival. Vertical filing fold at right not impinging on any postmark. One of just three covers recorded from Aracati, this being unique on transatlantic mail, and of great significance for any mail crossing the ocean not originating from a major locality.
