Description

1875, 5 sen light green “negi”, porous paper, together with “ribbon” 1 sen brown and 2 sen yellow, all on registered cover from Tokyo to Mibu (Shimotsuke Province), each tied by negative cross, with on reverse red “Hongo Yubinkyoku / Tokyo” (Hongo branch P.O.) double circle and black “Tokyo …5.31” cds. 1 sen with three insect holes and cover corner fault, not affecting the rare 5 sen on domestic cover. A Meiji 9 (1876) usage.

Inland usages of the 5 sen light green are rare. (JSCA ¥400,000).
