Lot 20280 – 1864 Veracruz ½ Real Brown Eagles 1st Period pair .

Veracruz ½r brown pair, cut into at right, otherwise good to mostly margins, cancelled by Veracruz cds. A very scarce denomination with only 1,600 issued. The largest multiple known, of which fewer than fifteen are recorded. NF $500.

Note: The First Period Eagles have the district name only, but no consignment number. They appeared in May-June 1864, this being the scarcest period as it just lasted two months.
