THE LARGEST 2 REALES USED MULTIPLE KNOWNMexico District 2r yellow, plate 1, pair, strip of three, block of four, these three applied on back, and vertical block of eight on front all except the two blocks in one small place, mostly showing large to very large margins, on June 29, 1865 cover from Mexico City to Guadalajara, all tied by with pen strokes, making believe that it was posted in a small town near Mexico City like Tacubaya. Docket of receipt on back flap applied on July 14. The block of four on back has a tear; two back flaps are missing and the upper back flap slightly reduced was joined with hingesto the front. NF $3,785 as blocks of four, strips and pair off-cover. The largest used multiple known of this value, as we ll as the largest franking recorded. An exhibition item of great visual impact.Note: There is a manuscript note in ink on reverse, calligraphically appearing to have been executed by a British in the first half of the 20th century, stating that “the date 1865 appears to be quite correct as I saw the original letter to which was cut away from this and it was to date (…)”. The addressee (Negrete y Cía.) received heavy correspondence from a merchant named Pío Bermejillo, who was supposed to have been the sender of this item in 1865.Provenance: Robert A. Paliafito
