Description
Mexico District ½r blue, four first rate covers, including three addressed to Veracruz and one to Puebla, with one sent to Veracruz being particularly scarce due to exhibit a postmark from Puebla (Schatzkès #1147), making it an out-of-district use. Three covers were franked by pairs (one vertical) and are dated October 23 & November 19, 1856 and January 5, 1857, the fourth is franked by a single probably paying a printed matter rate, dated December 26, 1856. A very scarce group as this rate was in place only from August to December 1856.
