Lot 90111 – 1874, 1 sen blue syllabic 5 (2) and and syllabic 8 on cover
1874, 1 sen blue syllabic 5 (ho), two examples of which one trimmed by scissors, and syllabic 8 (chi), all tied by two strikes of framed early non-standard “Nagoya/ken” square to reverse of cover to Kohata village, Uji district, Yamashiro province. Alongside showing type KG “Nagoya -.10.27” and transit “Rokujizo.Yamashiro -.10.29” cds’s. The 3 sen rate included 2 sen for single postage plus 1 sen for mail sent to a destination outside the post office delivery circuit, Meiji 6.4.1-15.12.31 (1873-1882). A rare mixed franking featuring two different syllabics of the same stamp.
