1861, 280r vermilion, a large margined example on 21 May 1862 entire letter from Porto Alegre to Bordeaux, tied by small “Correio Geral da Corte” cds (Ayres 1612), insufficiently franked with “Insufficiente” oval struck on dispatch, charged on arrival with “16” decimes on front, red French entry cds adjacent, Rio, Paris and Bordeaux backstamps. A rare insufficiently franked transatlantic mail.
