1838 & 1861 pair of covers from Pondicherry, with 1838 (Oct) wrapper to France with “INDIA” in oval hs, sent via Alexandria with “INDES ORIEN. / PAR / ALEXANDRIE” boxed hs and via Malta with “PAQUEBOTS / DE LA / MEDITERRANÉE” hs and disinfection cachet, Bordeaux arrival bs, missing sideflap and some creasing, attractive; and 1861 wrapper to France with “BUREAU DE PONDICHERRY” despatch and Nantes arrival, very fine.
