1857 (Aug 22) Envelope posted in Secunderabad to Edinburgh, with sender directive “Via Marseille & Bombay”, franked by pair 1a (S.G. 11) and single 2a (S.G. 31) and 4a, partially cut to shape, stamps all tied by diamond of dots C 56 of Secunderabad. Franked as inland double rate to Bombay and charged 1s 9d on delivery. Crescent “INDIA PAID” on front and transit and arrival postmarks on front and back. Very fine: a rare example of 8 annas double weight ship letter rate on complete envelope.
