Description

1855-57, “C/41” Hyderabad diamond of dots cancellation, group of four stamps and five covers, the stamps include ½a single and pair (S.G. 4-2, die I), and 1a (S.G. 6-11, die I); the postal history comprising one 1a single franking (S.G. 7-13, die II) carried at double weight letter rate Hyderabad-Jaulnah (Nov 17 1856), the rest being franked by ½a single (S.G. 4 and 4a-6, die I and II), sent to Jaypoor, Jaulnah and Calcutta. Also one early complete entire Kamptee to Secunderabad (datelined May 20 1855) with ½a (S.G. 4a-6, die II) struck by choice diamond grid 76, and with Kamptee double circle postmark and boxed “SECUNDERABAD/Paid” datestamp on back. An appealing and highly unusual lot.
