1855 (April 12) Letter from Aurangabad to Hertfordshire, UK, showing the 10d rate franked by very attractive strip of five 2a green (S.G. 31) affixed on reverse, struck by attractive Aurangabad diamond-shaped dotted cancellation. On front is rectangular “INDIA PAID” and “AURANGABAD/Paid” with manuscript date and London receiving mark May 24. Handwritten endorsements “Via Southampton” and “P’d in full”. The strip of five is slightly touched, but with some minor blemishes and tear to front of wrapper. A very attractive cover.
