1922 (May 10) Commercial cover (opened for display) from Batum to Rome, insufficiently franked on reverse with three “Michetti” 25c single and pair (one stamp defective) tied by “SINDACATO ORIENTALE di COMMERCIO/10 MAY 1922/SUCCURSALE DE BATOUM” oval in violet from the Italian Oriental Sindacate, which was allowed by the Italian mails to use handstamp and Italian stamps for its mail, carried by a private courier of the Sindacate to the Italian P.O. at Constantinople, where it was posted five days alter, ascertaining that the double-rate franking was insufficient for the quadruple rate (1,60 lire), applying “T” marking and tax, which was collected collected for 1,70 lire (twice the lacking 85c) with postage dues 20c, 50c and 1L on arrival.
