Description

1849 (Apr 10) Wrapper (slightly truncated at right) from Turks Island to London via the Bahamas, rated “1/4” (1s for the postal charge and 4d for the additional ship letter fee), showing a fine strike of “Bahamas / ship letter” handstamp (Type S1), London arrival (22.7.1849) on the reverse, believed to be the earliest example, fine and scarce.
