1841 (Apr 5) 1d Mulready envelope (forme 3, stereo A161) from Limerick to Newcastle, neatly cancelled by a fine strike of the distinctive Limerick Maltese Cross in black, the reverse showing an arrival cds for the following day with an unusual error where the “N” of Newcastle is reversed, very rare with only one other Mulready recorded with this cancel by Rockoff and Jackson, cert. RPS (2013).
