1840 2d blue pl.1 TA, large to enormous margins showing portion of the adjoining stamp at right, used on entire letter from London to Ironbridge dated 24th May 1840 the stamp neatly tied by a superb strike of the red Maltese cross; a very rare May date. (S.G. from £15’000).
