1812 (March 13) Entire letter from young French military man enlisted with the English to fight the Napoleonic troops in Portugal, sent from Barba to Buckinghamshire, rated “2/3” with London cds’s on reverse, including contents in French in which the sender writes that they will have to face the French, a very rare usage.
