2d blue, position 10, good to large margins and neatly tied by circular “1” in concentric circles and boxed ‘MAHEBOURG/MR.18.1856’ ds alongside, on 1856 small neat folded entire from Mahebourg to Port Louis, with ‘MAURITIUS/GPO’ crowned circle, cover tear, a very rare usage, apparently one of only six such covers recorded
Rate: 2d inland rate. This rate was for letters from rural post towns or villages to Port Louis, not exceeding 1/2 ounce, this rate remained in use and unchanged from the introduction of the Post Ordinance No. 8 of 1850
