1859 Dardenne 2d slate-blue, good to very large margins, together in combination with Britannia 1858-62 (4d) green, both cancelled or tied by oval bars cancel, on 1860 folded letter sheet from Port Louis overland via Suez to Marseille (France), with oval red ‘PACKET LETTER/MAURITIUS’ ds and Marseille arrival alongside, small cover defects, nevertheless and outstanding combination franking, an exhibition showpiece, ex Lars Amundsen, Hiroyuki Kanai (DF November 1993, lot 250, realised CHF 25’300), Vikram Chand and “Tatiana”, cert. RPS (1994).
