1846 (4.11) Folded entire from Reverend Justin Perkins in Oroomiah (Orumiah) mission addressed to Reverend Thomas Edward Vermilye in New York City, via Boston with red transit ds “BOSTON” of March 22 and straight line “SHIP” and “7” alongside, very fine, attractive and rare missionary letter, cert. Persiphila (2011)

Note: Reverend Justin Perkins wrote that the Bishop of Oroomriah’s brother (Joseph son of George of Gavalan) was a practicing physician and was engaged among the multitudes suffering from cholera in Oroomiah: an interesting letter ending “with all its solitude and trials, however, missionary life has also its peculiar joys”
