SUEZ 1835 Lettre de deux pages écrite et signée par Ferdinand de LESSEPS, constructeur du Canal de Suez. Ecrite en quarantaine au lazaret de Toulon le 4 octobre 1835, alors qu’il était Consul de France au Caire, à M. Charles Duguet, membre des Saints-Simoniens qui arrivèrent en Egypte en 1833 pour lancer le développement du Canal de Suez, le texte est particulièrement intéressant, mentionnant le désir de la France de guider l’Egypte sur la voie de la Civilisation par le biais d’un projet industriel, des commentaires sur Mehmet Ali, etc. Texte historique très intéressant, rare. SUEZ 1835 Two page letter written and signed by Ferdinand de LESSEPS, developer of the Suez Canal. Written in quarantine at the Lazaret in Toulon 4 Octobre 1835, while French Consul in Cairo, to Mr Charles Duguet, member of the “Saint-Simoniens” who arrived in Egypt in 1833 to explore the development of a Canal through Suez, the text is of particular interest, mentioning the Desire of France to lead Egypt to the Civilization through a industrial project, comments on Mehmet Ali, etc. Most interesting historical document, rare.
