1661-1852, Researched collection of well over 100 stampless covers from the 17th century to mid-19th century, housed in a large volume and written up on album pages, including interesting correspondences. Highlights are fascinating Revolutionary period material with addresses beginning ‘to citizen…’ and letters headed ‘war on tyrants, peace to the people’, showing use of the revolutionary calendar and subsequent return to Gregorian dates in the same correspondence. Also seen mail to Corsica, Italy, Monaco, Egypt, Thurn/Taxis markings, official franchise mail 1797 with oval Liberty court strikes, blue thimble datestamps of the 1820s/’30s inc. on royal correspondence with oval ‘service de secretaire de Madame la Dauphine’ (Princess Marie Therese), etc. (Est. € 200/300) Catalogue
