1840 (May 16) Envelope sent within London, franked on the reverse with 1d black pl.1a KL, just touched to good margins, tied by a crisp red MC, stamp unnoticed by the post official with a “2” postage due handstamp struck on top of a red MC where the stamp should have been before being crossed out by ink when the stamp was noticed, clear despatch and arrival backstamps on the same day, opened for display, attractive (SG £3’500)
