1849 Postmasters’ stamps: Perot’s first issue, One Penny manuscript value, black on bluish grey wove, used on large piece of cover (to Henry Higgs, St. George’s, handwriting identified as that of N. T. Butterfield), and paying the rate for a single internal letter, stamp with some restoration but good appearance, an extremely rare stamp of which only two examples are known (SG £200’000) Provenance: Sir Harold Reckitt, Clutterbuck, Sir Andrew Clark, Ludington, Perreault and Baron Leuhusen Expertise: Cert.
