Description
1948 Sketch for a street plaque honoring fighters who fell during the liberation of Zefat : discovered in the artist’s archive, on a page 26 x 23cm. Design of Mount Atzmon with inscription “Fighters for Safed.” The Haganah, who ordered this design, were considering choices of the wording “Fighters for Safed” or “In Memory of the Fallen,” this is added as a footnote to Commander Yitchak Geiger and signed by the artist Arye Moscovitch and dated 1948. The plaque is still on the main street in Safed, unique exhibition piece, cert. by the artist
