Description
1920-24, Extensive postal history collection of the Inflation period housed in 32 old time German albums. Hundreds of covers displaying a myriad of usages, rates, etc. with einzel franks, mehrfranks, etc, certainly with representation of most stamps of the period. The collector of this immense holding appears to have placed catalogue figures on each cover, and there are many €50 to €1’000+ items, but this does not allow for premiums related to such things as illustrated advertising of which there are many nice ones here, virtually every cover is expertised. The total catalogue value should be around €188,000 for this specialist collection of a fascinating period of postal history. The two most amazing covers are Michel 321BP einzel frank (€10’000) which is also a commercial FDC, and Michel 315a in 5 full sheets, 520 stamps attached to a single cover – a truly spectacular extreme of the inflation period (with stamps alone cataloguing at €14’000) (Est. € 12’000/18’000) Auction
