1888 (Jan 20) Official Envelope “Avis de reception en retour” sent registered to Berlin via Aden (25 February) and Sea Post Office (24 February). The envelope has sealing tape from Berlin on reverse. Zanzibar canceller single circle date-stamp of “thimble” type & “R” in circle for registration hand-stamp both on obverse. This cover is one of two recorded official envelopes for “AR” services (only example of this type) and would accompany an original mailed item for return to acknowledge receipt of the mailing by the addressee, rare and very fine, ex Fred Dunn
