Description
1865 (Mar 12) Incoming quadruple rate envelope from the Goodhue correspondence sent from Salem, Massachusetts via London, Marseille and Seychelles bearing $1.80 postage composed of a strip of three and three single of 30c adhesives of the 1861 issue. This envelope is a new discovery and represents the earliest cover from the Goodhue correspondence. The cover is the only quadruple rate cover as previously recorded the highest franking from the correspondence were five double rate covers. The cover has been restored on the left side by 40% addition, nonetheless a remarkable and rare item Auction
