COLOMBIA, COLON: 1868 (Apr 22) Envelope from the Panama Railroad Co. to the USA with red type CC1 “PAID / AT / COLON” crown circle hs, rated 2s 8d which corresponds to an exceptional eight times the standard rate, with the Colombian post charging six times, i.e. 6 reales, with due hs in blue, forwarded in the last section of its journey by The Intertropical Co. at Monteria with cds at left, reverse with despatch cds, fine and very rare with only a handful of examples recorded, ex Malcolm Bentley (realised €3’600), cert.
