Description
1846-64, Archive from Jean-Pierre Cardeillac, French ingenieur who organised the fortifications of Montevideo in 1842-44 during the War with Argentina, widower with two kids in France, married an Uruguyan woman, and is still considered as a national hero in Uruguay, noted :
