“VAN AVR..1896” (part of Armenia in 1920), bilingual dater with stretched stars, clear strike on 1892, 1 pia. on cover to Bangor, Maine, USA with transit and arrival marks; cover bit roughly opened at top, otherwise very fine. Only two covers of this extremely rare cancelation are recorded. Isfila catalogue No. 3 “RRR*” were the other existing cover is illustrated and described as being unique. A major rarity of Armenian postal history.

Note: in the C.G auction Nr.31 (2015 lot 48A) the 1905 VAN cover from the Otto Hornung collection which bears a different postmark type rated in Isfila only as “R” sold for 5200 EUR + fees.
