Lot 40301 – Bulgarian 1918 Official stationery of Chief of Staff of the Third Army, Bucharest
1918 (3.VI.) official envelope of the Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army, General Popov, mailed from Bucharest to his wife in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, cancelled with the Third Army cachet and the BG military postal station in Bucharest, censor label on reverse; a rare historical item. Note: Stefan Georiev Popov was a Bulgarian officer, Chief of the 3rd and later the 1st Army during WWI. In the period 1916-18 he was Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army, when it fought in Romania. In 1918 he was promoted to rank of major general.
