1896 (Apr 27) “British East Africa” overprint 2 1/2a envelope sent to Reval (modern day Tallin in Estonia), uprated with 1895 (Jul) 4 1/2a cancelled b Mombasa “A” squared circle ds, overfranked, sent by someone from the Leipzig Lutheran Mission at Moschi, carried to Mombasa and posted there in the normal mail in spite of the “Registered” endorsement, with the reverse showing a manuscript notation from the Aden Postmaster: “Recd amongst the ordinary corr. in the mail bag from Mombasa per SS Goa arrived here today”, along with Russian transit and arrival, slightly reduced at left, an unusual late usage of the handstamped issues.
