One of four covers recorded bearing the 4c black on orange Cotton Reel as a single franking and unique with “EDW” initials
1850-51, 4 cents black on orange, with initials of postal official Wight “EDW”, cut round very fine with very good margins for this stamp, used on cover (one side flap missing) from Demerara to Mahaica, tied by uncommon centrally struck Demerara datestamp of 13 May 1851.It is the only known single franking of this stamp showing the “EDW” initials and as such an important British Guiana rarity (S.G. £64’000++).
