1857 (Jul 13) envelope from New Bedford MA to Singapore, addressed to Captain Lyman Norton of the ship Minstrel, with three 1851-57 10c green types II & III in deep rich shade and 3c type I (faint corner crease at top left), mixed margins, each cancelled by red grids, paying 33c rate via Southampton, despatch cds alongside and Boston transit bs, carried on the Cunarder “Niagara”, red “28” credit hs tying one stamp and London “PAID” transit, ms “1” British Colonial credit marking, backflap repaired and some cosmetic improvements around edges, a fine and rare early use to Singapore, the only 1851-56 issue cover to Singapore recorded by Siegel.
