1885 hand painted essay of the 16c. issue design with blank value tablet, in chestnut with “Mauritius postage” in Chinese white and “16 cents” value tablet hand painted below, beautifully executed on tracing paper (19x22mm.) dated “2 jul. 83” which has a Barbados 1882 perforated proof (thinned) with blank value tablet hand stamped “cancelled” attached over upper left side, marked “for colour” A delightful piece of De La Rue artwork.
