Description
1840 (May 12) cover sent locally in London with 1840 2d blue pl.1 FA-FC in horizontal strip of 3 tied by three strikes of a red MC, margins touched in places, two stamps with small splits, the cover somewhat soiled, clear MY 12 40 cds on reverse, the earliest recorded multiple of the 1840 2d on an inland cover (the other being a pair sent on the same day). A cover of great importance.
