1840 (Sep 8) 2d Mulready envelope, stereo a202, sent from London to “Wingan” (Wingham, Kent), uprated with 1840 1d black pl.6 QK (showing re-entry in “K” square), good even margins, and both cancelled by red Maltese Cross, further manuscript “1” indicating 1d paid in cash to pay the 4d rate, with Vere Street “Maltese Cross” despatch ds, minor soiling, a very rare uprated usage of the 2d Mulready with both a stamp and cash payment.
