Description
1868 Letter from Argostolion (Feb. 14/26, 1868) to Venice (Feb. 17/29, 1968) via Kerkyra (Feb. 15/27, 1868) and Brindisi (Feb. 16/28, 1868) franked at 65 lepta according to the 1850 convention (updated on Oct. 23, 1866) between Greece & Austria and Greece & Austrian Lloyd and Greece Posts circulaire n°29 of Oct. 11, 1866 (applicable starting Oct. 20, 1866). Black postmark “ΔΠ” or “ΠΛΙΡΟΤΦΕΝ ΔΗΚΕΟΜΑ” and red one “PD” both for “Paid to Destination”. Black postmark “Piroscafi Postali Austriaci” for “Austrian Post Steamers” partially on one of the stamps (RRR). The five stamps are from the consecutive Athens printings (1862/1867).
